Waterstart
Financial Aid Fund
was established at the launch of the first Waterstart program in 2001 to ensure that any keen student could attend, regardless of their financial situation.
In 2002, Waterstart became a Bermuda Registered Charity (#591) and in 2004 Waterstart moved its operations to The Bermuda Institute of Ocean Science (BIOS). At BIOS, Waterstart continued to host programs for a diverse range of students for over a decade. In 2017, Waterstart became independent once again and moved its base back to Burt’s Island thanks to the support of the Burt’s Island Committee.
Bursaries
are available for students who require financial assistance. Bursaries cover 50% of the program tuition.
Scholarships
are awarded to students nominated by our partner organizations. Scholarships cover approximately 90% of the program tuition. At this time, our partner organizations include the Bermuda Sloop Foundation, Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences and Beyond Rugby.
